Renjā & Sangam deliver a fresh collaborative record to cap off 2020. Sacrifice is a blissful, genre-bending excursion that takes notes from their previous work while exploring a wholly unparalleled approach to the dreampunk sound. Here both artists exchange their distinct sounds to create a whole new vision. A somber, melancholic tone is set through lush synth arrangements and swells, allowing itself to be both tentative and mesmerizing. Sangam’s sound feels as rich as ever here, and introducing the fervent sound design and mythically entrancing melodies from Renjā gives this album it’s dense, enthralling atmosphere.

Sacrifice feels as refreshing as it does transforming, the music here is vibrant and brimming with life. With the angelic instrumentation and contemplative piano motifs comes these immersive and uplifting crescendos of symphonious serenity. While dramatic, these moments are followed up with a delicate display of lustrative, soothing ambient arrangements. The brilliance of both artists is what sets this album apart, having two distinct energies juxtaposed here gives both of their sounds a whole new life, and it’s what makes Sacrifice both an unexpected and totally uncompromising record.
